GST registration for sellers
Get GST-registered to sell online
Need GST to sell on Amazon, Flipkart or Meesho? We handle the whole application for you. Proprietorship registration at a flat ₹999 - filed within 24 hours, GSTIN typically in 3 to 7 working days.
₹999 is for proprietorship. Company / LLP registration is quoted separately.
Do you need GST to sell online?
For most online sellers, yes. If you sell on Amazon or Flipkart, GST registration is mandatory from your very first sale - there is no turnover exemption. Meesho allows selling without GST in some categories using an Enrolment ID, but a GSTIN lets you sell everywhere and claim back the GST you pay on stock, shipping and packaging. Here is who needs it:
Ecommerce sellers (mandatory)
Selling on Amazon or Flipkart needs GST from day one - no turnover exemption. Meesho allows non-GST selling in some categories, but GST unlocks all of them.
Crossing the turnover limit
Over ₹40 lakh (goods) or ₹20 lakh (services) in a year - lower in special-category states - and registration becomes mandatory.
Selling across states
Any interstate supply of goods requires GST, regardless of turnover.
Choosing to register early
Many sellers register voluntarily to claim input tax credit from day one and to look credible to B2B buyers.
What GST registration unlocks for a seller
Registration is not just a compliance checkbox - it changes what your business is allowed to do and how much of your money you keep:
Sell on every marketplace
Amazon and Flipkart require a GSTIN from day one, and it unlocks every category on Meesho.
Sell all over India
Interstate selling legally requires GST - without it you are limited to your own state.
Claim input tax credit
Get back the GST inside your stock, packaging, shipping and marketplace fees - unregistered sellers absorb it as pure cost.
Look credible to buyers and suppliers
A GSTIN on your invoices signals a real, registered business - it matters for B2B buyers and wholesale suppliers.
And the cost of skipping it when it is mandatory? The law provides a penalty of ₹10,000 or 10% of the tax due (whichever is higher) - and in practice, Amazon and Flipkart simply won't activate a seller account without a GSTIN.

CGST, SGST, IGST - what your invoices will show
These are not separate taxes - they are how one GST amount is split depending on where your buyer is. Once registered, this is what you will see on every invoice and settlement:
CGST + SGST
For sales within your own state, the GST amount splits half-half: CGST goes to the centre, SGST to your state. 18% GST = 9% CGST + 9% SGST.
IGST
For sales to another state, the full GST is charged as IGST. Marketplace sellers shipping across India deal mostly with this.
UTGST
The union-territory version of SGST, for sales within a union territory like Chandigarh or Ladakh.

Already registered? We file your returns too
Once you have a GSTIN, returns must be filed on time (monthly or quarterly) or you face late fees and penalties - and your marketplace account can get blocked. We handle ongoing GST return filing for sellers so you never miss a deadline. Pricing depends on your order volume, so message us for a quote.
GST registration - FAQs
Do I need GST to sell on Meesho, Amazon or Flipkart?+
For Amazon and Flipkart, yes - GST registration is mandatory from your first sale, regardless of turnover. Meesho allows selling without GST in many categories using an Enrolment ID, but GST lets you sell across all categories and claim input tax credit. If you plan to sell seriously online, getting registered early is the safe move.
How much does GST registration cost?+
Our fee for proprietorship GST registration is ₹999 (one-time). This covers document review, application preparation, submission and tracking until your GSTIN is issued. Company and LLP registrations need more documents (like DSC and MOA/AOA) and are quoted separately - message us and we’ll tell you the exact cost.
How long does GST registration take?+
We file your application within 24 hours of receiving your documents. After that, the GST department reviews it and - including the mandatory biometric Aadhaar verification now required in most states - the GSTIN is typically issued in 3 to 7 working days. That final timing is controlled by the government, not us, so we set honest expectations rather than promising an instant number.
What documents do I need for GST registration?+
For a proprietor: PAN card, Aadhaar card, a passport-size photo, proof of business address (electricity bill, rent agreement or NOC), bank account details (cancelled cheque or passbook), and a mobile number and email linked to your Aadhaar for OTP. Companies and LLPs need additional documents. We send you a simple checklist so nothing is missed.
Can you also file my GST returns?+
Yes. Once you’re registered, GST returns must be filed regularly (monthly or quarterly) or you face penalties. We handle ongoing return filing for sellers - pricing depends on your order volume, so message us for a quote.
What is Input Tax Credit (ITC) and why does it matter?+
When you’re GST registered, the GST you pay on purchases - stock, shipping, packaging, software - can be claimed back against the GST you collect from customers. You pay only the difference. For a seller with real input costs, this can save a meaningful amount every month. Unregistered sellers can’t claim it at all.
What is the turnover limit for GST registration?+
Broadly, ₹40 lakh for goods and ₹20 lakh for services in normal states (₹20 lakh and ₹10 lakh in special-category states). But this limit does NOT apply to ecommerce sellers - if you sell on Amazon or Flipkart, registration is mandatory from day one regardless of turnover.
Will you handle the biometric verification step?+
Most states now require biometric Aadhaar verification at a GST Suvidha Kendra (GSK). We can’t do this part for you (you must appear in person), but we book your appointment, give you an exact checklist of what to carry, and guide you so it goes smoothly the first time.
Is GST registration really free on the government portal?+
Yes - the government charges no fee to register. Our ₹999 is a professional service fee for doing the work for you: reviewing documents, preparing and filing the application correctly (most rejections come from small document errors), and tracking it to completion. We’re a private service, not a government body.
What is the penalty for not registering for GST when required?+
Under the GST law, selling without registration when it is mandatory attracts a penalty of ₹10,000 or 10% of the tax due, whichever is higher - and for deliberate evasion it can be 100% of the tax owed. For ecommerce sellers the practical penalty comes even sooner: Amazon and Flipkart simply will not activate your account without a GSTIN.
What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?+
They are not extra taxes - they are how one GST amount gets split. Sell within your own state and it splits half-half into CGST (centre) + SGST (state). Sell to another state and the full amount is charged as IGST. Marketplace sellers shipping across India mostly deal with IGST. Try it visually in our free GST calculator.
Is my GST registration valid forever?+
For regular taxpayers, yes - a GSTIN has no expiry date. It stays active as long as you file your returns on time. Stop filing and the department can suspend or cancel it, which also freezes your marketplace selling - which is exactly why we offer return filing alongside registration.
What is the composition scheme - should a seller choose it?+
The composition scheme is a simplified GST option with lower tax rates and quarterly filing for small businesses. It comes with real restrictions (including limits on interstate sales), so for most marketplace sellers shipping across India it is not the right fit - regular registration with input tax credit usually works out better. If your situation is unusual, ask us and we will point you the right way.
